The 79th Annual Oscars were announced, and it again went to show that I’m better at predicting winners than Rach. You might remember my Best of 2006 list, and Rach’s list, well, most winners were on MINE. Muhahahahahaha.

A bit I have to speak then, for my Best Predictor Among GQ and Rach award:

• I am better at predicting. Ha! That’s because instead of judging movies by stupid critic reviews, I actually watch them, not like Rach, who goes according to critics, and doesn’t watch movies until he saves enough to buy its VCD, apparently, because it’s ‘fun to tear off the plastic wrapping’.
  
• The Departed won, and won BIG. Naturally. It was a good movie, and on top of that, Martin Scorcese, who also won Best Director, had a HUGE amount of sympathy vote behind him. Five times unlucky, I never expected the Academy members to give him the thumbs down. It won four, Best Motion Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing. It’s a GREAT movie. Even Eeshan (holding cranberry juice) will agree to that.
• Happy Feet won the Best Animated Feature Film. I knew it would, despite people rooting for Cars on Yahoo! Oscars. Nobody can resist the Dark Force (along with shades of white and yellow) of cute li’l penguins. Rach’s mistake in dismissing animated films – he watches boring ones with a moral, I wacth the funny ones. Nobody can ever hate funny films.
• No, Hans Zimmer didn’t win for Da Vinci Code, in fact, he wasn’t even NOMINATED, contrary to what Rach (wrongly) claim(ed)s.

The physics exam went well today, and I must say, it’s a huge sigh of relief for me. I was really freaked out what with having done badly in physics in my CL module test. I NEEDED to do well this time.

Needless to say I didn’t spare any effort, actually bringing myself to study the whole blah THREE times. That was pretty amazing, even for me. It went really well, I expect around 60-65 out of 70, IF I didn’t make errors like d/dx(C)=1. The paper well, for some others, didn’t go that well. Many were cheerfully asking the date for the retests. It was a miracle though that I could stay awake for the exam today, since I couldn’t sleep until 3am yesterday as the Spongebob Squarepants theme kept playing in my head. I also had Spongy and Patrick chanting ‘Squidward, Squidward…’ on and on. To top that off, I also had the Jimmy Neutron theme to back it up. Arrgh!!!!

Also saw a movie after coming back, Hotel Rwanda. It’s ok, what movie critics like to call ‘tear- jerkers’ or ‘movies with a conscience’. I prefer to call that ‘bullcrap’. Yahoo! Movies Recommendations for this was right – I did not like it. Compare it to something good like The Interpreter, where much less time was devoted on screen to violence, but portrayed the plight of Africans under dictatorship better. And there are idiots like Rach who don’t watch The Interpreter because movie critics didn’t like it.
