Dummy’s Guide to HTML Gear

Html Gear

Own a blog or a website and don’t know how to add cool add-ons (nice rhyming words, ain’t it?) like a guestbook, poll, latest news, event manager, user feedback etc. etc. and that sort of stuff? No need to fret, here’s a nifty website that will help you tide the crisis. Part of the Lycos network, it was basically meant for Tripod (Yahoo! GeoCities, Lycos style) users but can be used by everyone now. You can choose the ‘gear’ you want and customise it the way you want to. Take my tip, preview your gear before saving it to see if everything is in the dimensions you want, etc. However, bear in mind that previewing some gears (like the headlines gear) and then going back to the preferences page deletes your settings, so be careful. After saving your gear, you can modify it anytime, which is a good thing if you want to clean up any bloopers afterwards. You will be given the HTML code. Just cut ‘n’ paste to your template, and voila, you’re done! Basics HTML knowledge is required, but if you don’t have it there are help pages.
