Firefox 3 – The Download Day Approaches!

If you’re a no-good dumbo nothing, then you’d probably have not heard of Mozilla’s attempt at setting the world record for the most number of software downloads in a day. The software? Firefox, version 3. Why should you upgrade? Because it has a far lower memory footprint (= “consumes less RAM / virtual memory while running”); and a nifty new address bar which allows you to search through pages using the name of the page, rather than just the URL. For example, if you had previously visited some other post on my blog a few days ago, then you’d normally have to bring up that page again using its URL; with Firefox 3, you can simply enter a part of the title of the page, and Firefox will show the matching results.

Those are the major changes, with others including a better options management area, with options to set defaults for handling different filetypes in a much easier form than currently. You’ll love it. And you can download it on Tuesday, 17th June (along with helping to set a world record!). Mark that date down in your calender. Or head to www.spreadfirefox.com to pledge yourself to the cause, and get a reminder before the event.

@Ankur – I have already pledged for the download. Anyways, I am eagerly awaiting the release and hope it lives up to the hype 🙂
@Anuj – Yes, a Launch Party wudn’t be bad.

@Anuj: Yeah, that’d be great! Where? 🙂 SpreadFirefox is also encouraging people to organize parties, and if we can get quite a few people together then it’ll be fun!
