Stray animals crying for help?

No, it turned out to be a movie called Rock On!! (including those two exclamation marks; not added by me). When I first saw the promos for this movie on television, I was a bit confused and looked out of the window to see if it was a stray dog crying out for help. I was about to call the animal shelter, when Rach told me that it was actually Farhan Akhtar singing. A much better review can be found here, and fits my intuition of what the movie would be (surprise surprise, I just needed the trailer to come to the same conclusions):

Rock On is an unapologetic chick flick. For guys. Which makes it technically a ‘dick flick’. Which is why IĀ  hoped it would have been called Cock On, if for nothing else than for the sake of truth in labeling.

Seriously. Don’t miss the review.

I think u are being too cruel to Farhan Akhtar – He is a good director, and has proved his acting and singing skills also, in Rock On!! The Movie is not dat bad, and quite refreshing from the “Normal” Bollywood movies….I dont quite agree with Great Bong here…!! U must see the movie..

@Prateek: Good director / actor? Dunno, never seen any of his works; but yes, I’ve heard he’s good. More refreshing than normal Bollywood movies? I can agree to that one – every other Bollywood movie is the same old boy-meets-girl story. But a ‘great’ movie? I don’t think so.

@Abhishek: I dunno about the rest of the songs, but the one in promos sounds like someone is playing a broken gramophone record. šŸ˜‰

His other works would include movies such as Lakshya, Dil Chahta Hai and The New Don (SRK)…Dil Chahta Hai was a path-breaking movie…And Lakshya was critically acclaimed. Yes I agree Bollywood needs to improve on that score for sure…But u c things are changing with movies like A Wednesday, Rock On!!, Bheja Fry, Khosla Ka Ghosla and many others doing very well.
I suppose u shud listen to the songs – Sindbad the Sailor and Socha Hai then…The one in the promos was the title track, if I am not wrong.
Broken Gramophone Record, nah….

@Prateek: Exactly, as I said, I’d heard that Farhan Akhtar is a good director. But the other movies you mentioned – well, I don’t know about the others, but Bheja Fry is a copy of a French movie titled ‘The Dinner Game’. And that too apparently a scene-to-scene copy! :O Yes, I think the track in the promos was ‘Socha Hai’, but…I didn’t like it at all.

@Abhishek / Prateek: It’s all about personal music tastes. šŸ™‚ Many people, including me, like Linkin Park. Maybe not their last album, but otherwise, yes.
