A lot of people have been asking me about the cutoff ranks for different courses at SRM. Frankly, I don’t know about this. As I mentioned previously, the interest for SRM – at least on this side of the Vindhyas – has picked up only after SRM got ranked as the best private university according to Times of India’s Education Times supplement. This resulted in a higher number of people giving the exam or even considering SRM as a viable alternative to join. So I can’t help out you guys as far as cutoffs for different streams is concerned.
Some others have been asking questions along the lines of “Which is better – VIT vs SRM vs Something Else?” To this, I would say that VIT is better known than SRM. I’m talking about across the country, and not just in southern India. As I keep repeating, choose for whichever university among the choices that you have which offers the course which you want. Everything else being equal – say, you’re getting the same course at VIT, SRM, and somewhere else, then I would suggest you to keep your order of preferences the same – VIT, then SRM, and then any other college (like KIIT, Amrita, or whatever). Tuition and hostel fees at SRM are also considerably higher than that of VIT, which might be a factor that you want to consider.
