Access 2007 Invite

Access 2007 will be held at Modern School, Barakhamba Road on 18-19 December 2007. Generally happens to be the event where the younglings of the club take over the reigns from the oldies, but since Lord Vader is preoccupied in the construction of Death Star version 2.0, I had to shun thoughts of retirement and go along. Access is always an event where kiddos get exposure for the first time, being an open event as far as the number of teams that can be sent.

The Access site isn’t much to speak of – it STILL says ‘Modern School presents Access 2005’, so you can understand how updated it is; plus they haven’t made available all the rules in an easy download. You can do so here by downloading the Access 2007 Invite kit.

Speaking of the Code Warriors, I am very concerned about Lord Vader. It seems he’s totally turned over to the Dork Side of the Force… 🙁

Heritage India Quiz 2007 : A *Short* Story

The Regional Finals of the Heritage India Quiz 2007 were held on 3rd December 2007 at Delhi Public School, Dwarka – once again, by Kunal Savarkar of Quizcraft; I guess Aditya Nath Mubayi would have been busy at the other regional final venue on the same day.

To cut a long story short, we didn’t make it to the national pre-finals tomorrow. Only the top team makes it to the next round, and we came second. I must admit that DPS Dwarka was absolutely brilliant today, especially because of Utkarsh and Akul. Kudos to them for an amazing performance.

Our school’s team which had qualified from the prelims held in August consisted of me, Varun, and Srishti. Thankfully, we reached the school on time, only to find that we’d be made to wait for over an hour for the chief guest (some person from the CBSE whose name even their principal didn’t know). Finally, Kunal Savarkar couldn’t take the pressure any longer, and jumped onto stage and started anyway. So the quiz was ‘officially’ declared open AFTER quite a few rounds were finished.

DPS VK totally rules this year when it comes to tech quizzing, but at class 12, all three of us didn’t seem to be that much in touch with kid-level Social Science. We certainly expected (and prepared) for much more trivia-based stuff…and it turned out to be a BIT too fact-based for our liking.

Oh, and I happened to win an Amar Chitra Katha too for answering an audience question. I seriously dunno what to do with it (other than read it, which I won’t – AMKs are too boring)…
