Heritage India Quiz 2007 : A *Short* Story

The Regional Finals of the Heritage India Quiz 2007 were held on 3rd December 2007 at Delhi Public School, Dwarka – once again, by Kunal Savarkar of Quizcraft; I guess Aditya Nath Mubayi would have been busy at the other regional final venue on the same day.

To cut a long story short, we didn’t make it to the national pre-finals tomorrow. Only the top team makes it to the next round, and we came second. I must admit that DPS Dwarka was absolutely brilliant today, especially because of Utkarsh and Akul. Kudos to them for an amazing performance.

Our school’s team which had qualified from the prelims held in August consisted of me, Varun, and Srishti. Thankfully, we reached the school on time, only to find that we’d be made to wait for over an hour for the chief guest (some person from the CBSE whose name even their principal didn’t know). Finally, Kunal Savarkar couldn’t take the pressure any longer, and jumped onto stage and started anyway. So the quiz was ‘officially’ declared open AFTER quite a few rounds were finished.

DPS VK totally rules this year when it comes to tech quizzing, but at class 12, all three of us didn’t seem to be that much in touch with kid-level Social Science. We certainly expected (and prepared) for much more trivia-based stuff…and it turned out to be a BIT too fact-based for our liking.

Oh, and I happened to win an Amar Chitra Katha too for answering an audience question. I seriously dunno what to do with it (other than read it, which I won’t – AMKs are too boring)…

Hey Ankur
Congrats on coming 2nd…Its sad u did not make it…But anyways…how were the qns and all?

Prateek

man….v all have the same kinda luck. we were in AFBB school with adittya mubayi and we blasted thru the first rounds .in the final we led thruout the quiz and lost in the rapid fire round…..to none other than DPS RKP….unfortunately or vice versa, they lost in the pre final today…..so they arent in the national finals on 6th…..i will give u the update regarding that….

@Prateek: Questions were mostly textbook sort of stuff, rather than trivia which we were better prepared for. Quite a few visuals, on Indian culture stuff, like identifying styles of painting, etc.

@Agrim: Aw, sad to hear that you got knocked out too. 🙁 On the bright side, DPS RKP didn’t make through (yay, Ishaan Chugh’s replacements don’t live up to his name!). Do tell me who won…today.

@Rach: Yup, it was a sad exit… 🙁

Oh don’t get started on the Heritage Quiz. I got stuck in this friggin school, DAV Model, Chandigarh, which does not have anyone who’s any good at quizzing. The prelims were individual, so their scores also counted. And the other guys – Arts students no less – got, well, everything wrong. Life sucks!

@Ajachi: Aw, sad to hear you didn’t qualify. Stuff like that happens. 🙁 You a regular on the quizzing circuit?

Hey, r u talking about the heritage quiz that takes place in august every year?

I would like to know maore about it as I am contesting it this year.

My email address is [email protected]
